Kreator es un grupo de thrash metal formado en 1978, en Essen, Alemania, pero se oficializó en 1982. Sus miembros estaban muy influenciados por bandas como Raven, Venom, Blitzkrieg, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Mercyful Fate, Sex Pistols y Bad Religion. Kreator, junto a sus compatriotas Destruction, Tankard y Sodom, son considerados como los cuatro grandes del thrash metal Alemán.
